Sansevieria was a genus containing around 61 evergreen species in the Asparagaceae family, grown for their stiff and upright leaves. These plants have been reclassified and are now considered part of the genus Dracaena. Many species are commonly known as Snake Plant or Mother-In-Law’s Tongue. These succulent perennial plants are often grown indoors as houseplants, favoured for their tolerance of neglectful watering and low-lighting. They can also be grown as spectacular specimen plants for desert gardens in warmer climates that do not experience freezing temperatures.
